TypeCon2021: Free Registration for the BIPOC Community

TypeCon 2021 — a virtual conference on typography — takes place Thursday, October 21st to Sunday, October 24th.

In our continued efforts towards inclusivity within our processes, we are happy to announce a new opportunity to support attendance and participation in TypeCon — free registration for 40 members of our BIPOC community.

This benefit is generously supported by our sponsors:

  • Adobe

  • Mark Simonson Studio

  • Positype

  • Typostrophe

  • Matteson Typographics

  • SoTA

Thank you to our sponsors in supporting these efforts. The number of available registrations may increase as we receive additional sponsorship.

Lottery process

If you or someone you know is interested in signing up to possibly be selected for a free registration to TypeCon, please complete this form by September 21st.

The selection process will be randomized. Results will be given by September 27th, and those that were not chosen through the lottery will receive a registration discount code. Working together, we are in a position to foster a much needed paradigm shift in our community.

If you have questions about this program, please contact us.

About the conference

TypeCon covers a broad range of topics, including typography, type design, font production, graphic design, digital media, printing history, calligraphy, lettering, book arts, advertising, wayfinding, type in motion, literacy, type sales and marketing, legal issues, design education, and other related areas.

TypeCon2021: Together will be our first online conference. It will start with the main program on Thursday and Friday. The Type & Design Education Forum has been moved to Saturday. We hope this brings more exposure to the work educators in our community are doing to rear the next generation of designers and typographers. Sunday will be filled with Type Crits!

Check out the full schedule and our incredible roster of speakers.
